"It is said that the original concept of making curry chicken bun was come from the “beggar chicken” in some Chinese martial arts fictions. However, Yau’s brothers had brainstormed and finally came out an idea by using the bread to wrap the chicken. They are the ones who came out with the first curry chicken bread in Malaysia. Different artistic creative designs of the bread had been attempted before they came out with the final model of curry chicken bread."

“Yau Kee is well-known for the authentic curry chicken wrapped with bread. The curry is creamy, extremely tasty as the chicken would have absorbed the flavours of the spices. The bread is good with a bit salty taste. The curry chicken is wrapped inside big round bread. Curry chicken and bread are the perfect combinations as the bread will absorb the curry gravy. Customers would require to dip the pieces of bread into the curry and savouring the tasty morsels. You can enjoy both tastes together. Sometimes many travelers would come over Kampar and enjoy the curry chicken bread at “Yau Kee” during lunch and dinner time. Other than having curry chicken bread here, you may try the other flavour which also equally tasty herbal chicken bread too."

Enjoying Curry Chicken Bread

We just wait for 10 minutes and the food ordered was ready to be served. The waiter will help us to cut the bread. That’s how the bread looks like. You can just use the warm served bread to dip with curry chicken, it is tastier by eating in this way as the curry gravy fully absorbs by the bread. We can smell the curry even before the bread was cut into pieces. The taste is pretty good. The curry gravy is creamy and nice. Besides, we also ordered the fried noodle with gravy as it is recommended by other friends. This noodle is served with a lot of vegetable and meat. It is very yummy.

Traditional Pastries

In addition, “Yau Kee” also selling a range of traditional pastries such as chicken biscuits, sweetheart cake, red bean biscuits, walnut biscuits and so on. Most of the pastries are freshly made daily  and attract more customers to come and buy every day. Besides, they also serve some typical Chinese dishes such as salt-baked chicken, fried noodle, steamed fish, curry lamb and many more. This restaurant also provides a venue for conducting wedding dinner for the residents in Kampar.

Feedback:

“It is very creative to have curry chicken wrapped in a big bun. However, the taste of curry is not that good and for me, it is enough to try once.” - by Ms. Ng

We ordered both curry and herbal chicken bread. The bun is soft but with a crispy top. We have rather preferred the taste of herbal chicken bread.”- by Mdm Wee

“I like the way of eating curry chicken bread by dipping it into the curry or herbal gravy. The curry gravy is thick and worth to attempt as well as the bread is crunchy and still warm.” - by Mr. Lim
